Group Coaching

Group coaching is best for runners who want ongoing coaching, as well as the support of other runners, but don’t need as much individual attention or accountability from a coach. This option is intended for runners training for a specific race, from the 10K to the marathon distance. If you are local to DC, there are three different runs offered each week (starting again on 1/8/19) to have in-person accountability. Most of the components of group coaching are virtual, however, so if you’re not local to DC you can still join the group! You’ll be able to interact with everyone through our private group forum and the Q&A sessions with Coach Tammy, as well as all of the other perks of the program. Check out a list of popular spring DC area races here. This list is by no means exhaustive, and you can join the group program to train for any race and from any location!

You receive:

  • Customized training plan uploaded in Final Surge (an online training platform) - the training plan is tailored for your specific goal race and based on your selected running level and it includes speed workouts, pacing, and cross training

  • Virtual coaching Q&A sessions 2x/month with Coach Tammy and occasional special guests

  • Private group forum to interact with other TW Training athletes

  • Weekly DC group runs (if local to the DC area) - more info on those here

  • Unlimited email and messaging support from Coach Tammy

  • Support with strength training, injury prevention, and foam rolling routines

  • Social events (if local to DC) to connect with other TW Training athletes outside of runs

  • Team meet-ups at various races (TBD)

Cost:

  • Virtual only: $69/month, billed monthly

  • Including all DC runs: $89/month, billed monthly

  • Note: You will be charged for the first month when signing up and then charged monthly for the number of months you select to train with the program (on the survey). A 2 month minimum is required for group coaching.

What you can expect after signing up:

  • A welcome email from Tammy within 48 business hours - email will include a link to complete a survey so your customized training plan can be uploaded into Final Surge

  • An email from Final Surge to create an account

  • Training plan will be uploaded into Final Surge shortly after survey is received and account is created

“I have been a runner for almost a decade. I’ve always wanted to conquer the marathon to be able to say I did it and to see if it’s something that I was interested in continuing to do. I tried and failed many times over the past ten years to stick to a training plan on my own with no luck. I went for a local holiday lights run last December and met Tammy – she was energetic, funny and inspiring in her dedication to the sport and overall wellness. When I decided to commit to a fall race, I knew immediately that I wanted to be part of her training crew. I figured individual coaching wasn’t for me, since I needed more accountability to show up for runs. Tammy had that all set – I started out with the training crew in early summer and was intimidated and nervous showing up to my first group long run. Tammy set the tone early by having us all introduce ourselves, talk about our race and something positive that happened to us that week. My nervousness quickly wore off and I found our weekly long runs becoming the highlight of my summer. The weekly achievements in increasing both my fitness and my long run distance was highlighted by the fact that I shared those successes with a group and an enthusiastic coach. Tammy was incredibly helpful in always responding to texts about random aches/pains, updates on routes and meeting places, and with weekly emails. My marathon was in South Dakota in the midst of a freak snowstorm (which is the one thing that training in DC in summer could not prepare me for) and I went into it nervous but confident that I had a knowledgeable coach behind me and a strong network of runners that I put in the work with every week over the summer.
