Race Hard, Recover Strong: What to do After the MCM

Running the Marine Corps Marathon or the MCM 10K on October 28th? You've put in the hard work leading up to the race, but how you recover from running a race is just as important as how you prepare. Join TW Training and WellnessPacers Running, and MedStar for a workshop that will discuss recovery techniques and tips for the days leading up to the race, the day of the race, and the day after the race to ensure your body and mind are recovered and ready for your next running adventure.

The workshop will last for 30-40 minutes and will be followed by an optional 3-4 mile run (suitable for all paces and levels). While MCM is the focus race for this workshop because it's local, anyone running a fall race and interested in this topic is welcome to attend!

Katie Rogowski, a PT with MedStar, will be leading the workshop and Coach Tammy of TW Training and Wellness will be leading the run.

Final MCM Prep: Run + Q&A w/the MCM Race Director

Are you running the Marine Corps Marathon or MCM 10K? Come run an easy 4 miles with fellow MCM runners, shop for gear, and get your last minute questions answered by a member of the MCM Management Team!

We'll meet at Pacers Running - Navy Yard location and start shortly after 6:30pm with an easy 4 mile run led by Coach Tammy of TW Training and Wellness, who has run MCM a number of times and is coaching many athletes training for the race. You can start to work out your pre-race jitters by connecting with others embarking on the same 26.2 (or 6.2) miles as you!

When we return back to the store, you'll have the opportunity to ask a member of the MCM Management Team your last minute questions and shop MCM gear, while enjoying refreshments provided by Pacers.

Prep your body and mind for the final 10 days leading up to the big day with the best in the (running) business!

August Fun Run with Summit to Soul

We're partnering up with Summit to Soul's weekly Wednesday run for the TW Training August fun run. Plan to meet by 6:15-6:20 to get signed in. The 3 mile run will start shortly after 6:30pm. We'll return back to Summit to Soul for 15-20 minutes of runner-specific strength exercises. All levels of runners welcome!

Running Injury Screening Clinic

Join MedStarPacers Running, and TW Training and Wellness for a special injury screening clinic on Thursday, July 19th! The free assessment is designed to help runners determine if nagging pain or injury should be treated or needs further work-up. If you're concerned about continuing your training, MedStar can provide a recommendation. There will also be an optional run with TW Training and Wellness along with the event - more details will be sent out to those interested.

The MedStar staff has extensive training in video motion analysis, and are runners themselves. Their combination of personal and professional experience, along with technology previously available only to elite athletes, adds up to a high caliber program to help you run healthy.

We're partnering up with Biergarten Haus for the July fun run + HH. Plan to meet by 6:15-6:20 to get signed in. The 3 mile run will start shortly after 6:30pm. We'll return back to Biergarten Haus for drinks, food, and an extended happy hour on a semi-secluded portion of their patio. All levels of runners welcome!

June Book Club

This is the first meeting of the TW Training Book Club. Every month on the 3rd or 4th Sunday we'll gather to talk running with others, as well as eat and drink like all book clubs involve. It will be a great way to share our love of running and learn new things to improve our performance, change our perspective, and more!

We'll be reading "Endure: Mind, Body, and the Curiously Elastic Limits of Human Performance" by Alex Hutchinson for the June gathering. Location is TBD and will be updated closer to the event, but it will be at a bar/restaurant in DC. Please register to RSVP so I can pick a place condusive to how many people plan on coming.
